Why I need Dental Veneers

For a long-time now, I have been planning to have my set of teeth to have braces. I know that many people in the Philippines have been dreaming to have those metal brackets installed in their teeth as a status symbol or just as simple as my reason, to have my crooked teeth fixed and my jaws fixed too.
So there it is, I had my teeth checked and asked for some dentist’s advice. I inquired to my auntie’s dental clinic and asked, “ready nap o ba for braces ang ngipin ko?” And she replied, “Bale, may 4 na wisdom tooth ka tapos may dalawa kang maliit na ngipin sa harap.” I replied, “Magkano po ba yung wisdom tooth extraction? At yung iba pa?” She replied, “Anak, 5k isang wisdom tooth tapos iba pa yung veneers.” Woah, before getting braces, it looks like I need to get these things done first. What are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are custom-made shells that are used to cover the teeth for beautification purposes. It can be made of porcelain or resin which can be modified by changing the color, size, shape and length.  

What does Dental Veneers Treat?

Usually dental veneers address the following problems:
  • Chipped or broken teeth.
  • Discolored teeth.
  • Uneven or irregularly shaped teeth
  • Teeth with gaps between them


How are dental veneers installed?

  • Assessment
First thing that a dentist would do is an assessment on what do you want to do on your teeth. He/she will ask you to take x-rays that will be used for the procedure. And go back for a re-assessment after the x-rays are obtained.

  • Preparation
Second is the preparation of your dental veneer. A ½ millimeter of enamel would be removed to your tooth which is equal to the thickness of the dental veneer that will be installed. A model of your veneer would be created and submitted to the dental laboratory which usually takes 2-4 weeks to complete.

  • Bonding
After it was completed, your dental veneer would be bonded.
